{"id":997,"date":"2010-11-17T09:17:49","date_gmt":"2010-11-17T15:17:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cookcountypd.org\/blog\/?p=997"},"modified":"2010-11-17T12:37:02","modified_gmt":"2010-11-17T18:37:02","slug":"william-murphy-named-jack-carey-scholar-for-spring-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/local3315.org\/blog\/index.php\/2010\/11\/17\/william-murphy-named-jack-carey-scholar-for-spring-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"William Murphy Named Jack Carey Scholar for Spring 2011."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cookcountypd.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSCN98031.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1004\" title=\"DSCN9803\" src=\"http:\/\/cookcountypd.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/DSCN98031-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Jack Carey Scholarship Selection Committee has\u00a0chosen William Murphy\u00a0to be \u00a0the recipient of the Spring 2011\u00a0Jack Carey Scholarship.\u00a0 William is the 26th winner of the scholarship, which is given to an outstanding law clerk in the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender three times a year.\u00a0 The award amount was increased from $2000 to $2500 a little over a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>William has been clerking with the office since May of 2009 in the Felony Trial Division.\u00a0 He received praise from past supervising attorneys Margaret Domin, Kelly McCarthy and Jennifer Willis.\u00a0 Currently, he has been trying cases with Tim King, taking a not guilty verdict in a burglary case after about an hour of deliberations. He has been actively participating in the courtroom doing motions, conferences, arraignments, fitness hearings and bench trials.\u00a0 Needless to say, he has been putting his S.
